Treatment of diabetes mellitus. The Big Interview.

“The era of insulin is coming to an end,” stated Professor Shimon Slavin and Professor Shmuel Levit, during a talk about innovative methods of treating high blood sugar and diabetes.

Professor Levit shared the achievements of regenerative medicine in diabetes mellitus, which the doctor used in his patients. Exclusive treatment made it possible to reduce the administered doses of insulin, and some patients completely abandoned insulin therapy.

Professor Slavin spoke about the most modern version – the use of mesenchymal stem cells, which can turn into cells that produce insulin. While such treatment is at the experimental stage, the professor hopes that in the future it can save the lives of many people with diabetes.
